摘要: Abstract Background Prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMPs) are state-operated electronic databases that contain patients' controlled histories. Most states provide these data to pharmacists via online web portals combat prescription abuse and diversion. Objectives The objectives of this study were to: 1) explore the theory planned behavior's (TPB) utility in predicting Texas pharmacists' intention utilize an accessible PDMP; 2) determine contribution each construct, attitude (A), subjective norm (SN) perceived behavioral control (PBC) intention; 3) test whether addition obligation (PO) is significantly related intention. Methods A cross-sectional, 36-item questionnaire was developed from focus groups literature views regarding abuse. total 998 practicing community surveyed collect on their a PDMP database. Descriptive statistics, multivariate hierarchical logistic regression analyses used address objectives. Results response rate 26.2% (261/998). TPB constructs significant predictors high PDMP. Pharmacists with positive attitudes almost twice as likely have (odds ratio [OR] = 1.8, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.2–2.8). SN strongest predictor (OR = 2.2, CI = 1.4–3.3). PBC also (OR = 1.9, CI = 1.2–3.0). Additionally, PO contributed prediction (OR = 1.8, CI = 1.0–3.1) above explained by model ( X 2 = 4.14, P Conclusions useful Interventions A, SN, PBC, may be valuable increase Pharmacists' utilization PDMPs lead decrease the morbidity mortality associated Future studies assess whether intention use translates actual usage needed strengthen findings.
