摘要: The microvasculature is critical in the control of blood flow. Aging and reduced physical activity (PA) may both decrease microvascular function. Purpose primary aim was to evaluate influence age on function adults with similar PA levels. Secondary aims were assess reliability muscle functional magnetic resonance imaging older (OA) relationship between OA. Methods Microvascular blood-oxygen-level dependent (BOLD) responses measured young (YA, n = 12, mean ± SD 21 1 yr old, 239 73 × 10 counts per day) OA (n 13, 64 4 203 48 day). Functional images (3T, echo planar BOLD) leg acquired after brief (1 s) maximal voluntary isometric contractions. test-retest BOLD Pearson correlation peak assessed a group (OA-r) broad range (66 5 9, 54 674 Results Peak for compared YA. 27% lower soleus (3.3% 0.8% vs 4.5% 1.4% YA; P 0.017) 40% anterior compartment (1.6% 0.6% 2.7% 1.1% 0.006). Coefficients variation 8.6% 11.8% compartment, respectively, an intraclass 0.950 regions. r ≥ 0.715, ≤ 0.030. Conclusions associated muscles, independent PA. findings also revealed good muscles.
