Prevalence and associated factors of emotional and behavioural problems in Chinese school adolescents: a cross-sectional survey.

摘要: Background Emotional and behavioural problems are key health issues in adolescence. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence emotional Chinese school adolescents explore associated factors. Methods This cross-sectional conducted during period November/December 2009. A questionnaire including Strengths Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) self-reported version, characteristics child (age, gender, only pressure), parents (parent–adolescent relationship parental expectations) families (living area, family structure, socio-economic status negative life events) distributed our population. total 5220 (aged 11–18) from 30 public schools Liaoning province completed questionnaire. Multivariate logistic analysis used factors with problems. Results The average problem score 11.28 (SD = 5.86) 10.7% scored above cut-off for problems. Factors that increased risk having were: poor parent–adolescent relationship, experiencing more events, older age, pressure, living rural areas, boys lower expectations.
