摘要: Abstract B4C based ceramics were fabricated with different Fe3Al contents as sintering aids by spark plasma at relatively low temperature (1700 °C) in vacuum applying 50 MPa pressure and held 1700 °C for 5 min. The effect of additions (from 0 to 9 wt%) on the microstructure mechanical properties has been studied. composition as-prepared samples characterized means X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) probe microanalyzer (EPMA) equipped WDS (wavelength dispersive spectrometry) EDS. mixtures underwent a major reaction which metal borides encountered crystallographic phases. sample 7 wt% aid was found have 32.46 GPa Vickers hardness, 483.40 MPa flexural strength, 4.1 MPa m1/2 fracture toughness is higher than that pure B4C.
