摘要: Recent studies of the vocal mechanisms songbirds have shown that there are physical effects on sound production. Interspecific and phylogenetic comparisons body mass bill morphology two major factors affecting vocalizations such as songs. We analyzed distance calls female Bengalese finches Lonchurastriata var. domestica, non-vocal learning sex, to assess potential acoustic structure vocalizations. By experimentally controlling rearing condition using cross-fostering we could examine developmental environment genetic background. None tested affected peak frequency calls, but found larger-billed birds tended produce shorter bout with higher trill rates. These results suggest divergence can affect features at within-population level. also reared in same foster brood siblings from parents similar This implies rate is under influence factors.
