摘要: The human meniscus is a critical element to normal knee struc ture and function. These crescent-shaped cartilages distribute loads, aid in joint lubrication, stability, congruence proprioception. An appreciation of the structure function meniscus, along with its related biome-chanics, proves useful understanding pathologic states. Various types tears are discussed, as well basic science clinical evidence healing potential tear. While most can be treated simple debridement, several methods exist for repair, including suture repairs device repairs. Accompanying discussion techniques, used illustrate which meniscal likely heal successfully biomechanical data each type repair. A rehabilitation protocols following repair examines benefi ts risks early motion, weight bearing return sport. final section concerns current trends possible future modalities that may employed make easier more successful.
