摘要: Abstract Patients suffering from atherosclerotic diseases are prone to repeated episodes of ischemia/reperfusion that has been demonstrated induce oxidative stress by formation oxygen free radicals. It might therefore be expected such endogenously exposure radicals increases the individual cancer risk in patients with diseases. We studied sex-specific lung and other cancers a prospective study conducted Copenhagen area. The cohort was linked Danish Hospital Discharge Register we identified 2261 1-year survivors through 1977 1993, while 26 150 subjects had no record an diagnosis. After linkage Cancer Registry associations between atherosclerosis were analysed for each sex separately means Cox proportional hazard regression models. Atherosclerotic women significant RR 3.26 (95%CI: 1.95–5.46) compared non-atherosclerotic after adjustment age, calendar period, population, smoking habits, school education alcohol consumption. No male cancer, RR=1.12 0.77–1.64), or smoking-related either observed multivariate adjustment. Atherosclerosis did not predict non-smoking-related general men, RR=0.91 (95%CI 0.69–1.20), women, RR=0.93 0.64–1.35). hypothesize due females because gender specific susceptibility DNA damage.
