摘要: To elucidate the association between arsenic-related ischemic heart disease (ISHD) and serum antioxidant micronutrient level, residents aged 30 or older living in arseniasis-hyperendemic villages Taiwan were recruited a community-based health survey. A structured questionnaire was used to obtain history of long-term exposure arsenic through consuming artesian well water fasting samples also collected at recruitment. total 74 patients affected with ISHD, who diagnosed both electrocardiography Rose interview, 193 age-sex-matched healthy controls selected for examination levels micronutrients by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). There significant biological gradient risk ISHD duration high-arsenic water. reverse dose-response relationship observed level α - β -carotene, but not retinol, lycopene -tocopherol. Multivariate analysis showed synergistic interaction on low carotene level. An increased associated hypertension elevated body mass index, lipid profile, cigarette smoking alcohol drinking. The findings seem suggest that has pathogenic mechanism which is least partially different from unrelated arsenic.
