摘要: Quitting smoking leads to improved outcomes for patients with cancer, yet too few receive cessation services during their oncology healthcare visits. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) dedicated Moonshot funding NCI-Designated Centers develop a population-based approach reach all who smoke tobacco treatment services. As result, the Center Cessation Initiative (C3I) offers an unparalleled opportunity identify effective implementation strategies and barriers delivering across multiple clinical settings. Over one year after receiving funding, first cohort of C3I funded demonstrated progress in hiring specialists, adding new programs, integrating EHR-based referrals. However, program remains low some settings, even using broad definition patient engagement. identified challenges related staff training needs, devising workflows, engagement IT leadership. Understanding may help other settings effectively implement leading cancer by helping quit smoking.
