Does a Recent Cancer Diagnosis Predict Smoking Cessation? An Analysis From a Large Prospective US Cohort

摘要: Purpose Quitting smoking provides important health benefits to patients with cancer. A cancer diagnosis may motivate quitting—potentially providing a teachable moment in which oncologists can encourage and assist quit—but little is known about whether recent (including of that less strongly linked smoking) associated increased quitting. Methods Cancer Prevention Study-II Nutrition Cohort participants reported status at enrollment 1992 1993 approximately biennially through 2009. Quit rates smokers diagnosed during 2- 4-year intervals were compared those not (12,182 12,538 analyses, respectively).
