摘要: Spatially-explicit participatory planning is a relatively new approach for managing visitors to protected areas. In this study we used public participation geographic information systems (PPGIS) mapping and global positioning system (GPS) tracking monitor mountain bikers frequenting national parks tourism recreation in Northern Sydney, Australia. PPGIS was implemented using both an internet application with hardcopy maps the field. Our research addressed two fundamental questions park planning: (1) What spatial distribution of visitor activities location-specific reasons riding; (2) actions are needed improve riding experiences? The distributions generated showed strong correlation GPS results, locations being related track selection. Riders proposed broad range management experiences. provides cost-effective facilitate decision making, allowing agencies prioritise future actions. We discuss strengths limitations these methods.
