摘要: The published literature on local ecological knowledge (LEK) is rich with debate its merits (e.g., Berkes et al. 2000, Huntington 2000), but tangible examples of application to wildlife management are rare Lyver 2002). Brook and McLachlan (2005) recently critiqued our manuscript in which we compared information derived from scientific empirical studies LEK (Gilchrist 2005). Although they agreed that there few science have been simultaneously, took issue attempts do so. Frankly, find little value producing more papers simply discuss LEK, would rather write apply it. However, believe raise several points perpetuate ongoing misconceptions between scientists those working principally these warrant a response.
