摘要: Background: The effects of cigarette smoking on insulin resistance, postprandial lipemia following a mixed meal, lipoproteins and other aspects the resistance syndrome (IRS) were investigated in healthy middle-aged men. Methods: 36 25 age- body mass index (BMI)-matched non-smoking men participated. They non-obese (BMIB 27), without any medication. smokers had been more than 10 cigarettes per day for 20 years; non-smokers never habitual smokers. Body composition several metabolic cardiovascular risk factors studied, including prevalence small dense LDL-particles, lipoprotein hepatic lipase activity triglyceride levels after test meal. For determination degree sensitivity euglycemic hyperinsulinemic clamp technique was used. Results: lower HDL-cholesterol A-I but higher fasting triglycerides, as well an increased proportion LDL-particles postheparin activity. also fibrinogen, plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) steady-state C-peptide during clamp. resistant lipid intolerant with impaired clearance This intolerance not mirrored by hypertriglyceridemia. Conclusions: study, using technique, shows that are both intolerant. is seen individuals normal related to atherogenic LDL.
