摘要: Many mobile TV standards dictate using energy saving schemes to increase the viewing time on devices, since receivers are battery powered. The most common scheme for is make base station broadcast video data of a channel in bursts with bit-rate much higher than encoding rate stream, which enables devices turn off their radio frequency circuits when not receiving bursts. Broadcasting channels bursts, however, increases switching delay. delay important, because long and variable delays annoying users may them away from service. In this article, we first analyze burst broadcasting currently used many deployed networks, show that it efficient terms controlling We then propose new guarantee given maximum exceeded consumption minimized. prove correctness proposed analytically achieved saving. also use scalable coding generalize order support heterogeneous resources. implement testbed practicality validate our theoretical analysis. experimental results schemes: (i) significantly devices: up 95p observed, (ii) both homogeneous devices.
