摘要: Many psychological investigations are accused of "failure to generalize the real world" because sample bias or artificiality setting. It is argued in this article that such "generalizations" often not intended. Rather than making predic- tions about world from laboratory, we may test predictions specify what ought hap- pen lab. We regard even "artificial" find- ings as interesting they show can occur, if it rarely does. Or, where do make gener- alizations, have added force A misplaced preoc- cupation with external validity lead us dismiss good research for which generalization life intended meaningful.
