摘要: Objective To analyze functioning and nonfunctioning pituitary adenomas (PAs) >3 cm, with special emphasis on preoperative postoperative visual functions. Methods The cases consisted of 49 women 54 men mean age 43.2 years (range 19–66 years). All had a macroadenoma cm in diameter. transsphenoidal approach was performed 117 procedures, the transcranial 8 procedures. Radical tumor excision achieved 50 103 patients. Postoperative evaluation done 88 Preoperative acuity, field, ocular fundi their relationship pattern duration symptoms size were evaluated. Results Normalization acuity obtained 71.5% patients, improvement occurred 13.6%, persisted worsened 1%. field defects (VFDs) observed 74.1% impairment score improved postoperatively 92% Patients operated Conclusions This study shows that patients severe may have remarkable if surgical decompression is early. should be to correct patient's relieve pressure optic apparatus caused by any size.
