摘要: Abstract Observations of sporadic-E (Es) activity have been carried out during 1970–1974 by using a 25 MHz sounder operating at Iioka, Japan (36°N). Earth backscatter echoes were presented on range-azimuth-intensity plots and recorded facsimile paper. Examination individual Es clouds has shown the variations in sizes lifetimes with time day season. drifted predominantly toward west-southwest. Analysis drift vectors revealed presence north-south variation direction semi-diurnal period. The observed cloud motions are consistent interpretation that move neutral winds lower E-region. seasonal dependence azimuthal occurrence east-west difference over Japan. is found to be due movement latitudinal position maximum activity. which mainly caused coefficient between land sea was only few non-summer months.
