The impact of total control of antibiotic prescribing by infectious disease specialist on antibiotic consumption and cost.

摘要: Abstract We analyzed the impact on antimicrobial consumption of therapy totally guided by an infectious disease specialist (ID). In a teaching hospital antibiotic con-sumption was recorded yearly from 1998 to 2005 in three units. Antibiotic policy introduced 1999. Unit A, restricted antimicrobials were prescribed after approval head unit. The ID involved as consultant upon request. unit B, approved ID. All other pre-scribed physicians ward. C, all A significant decreasing trend defined daily doses (DDD) per patient day and admission, cost observed ob-served b well. Totally is efficient method policy.
