摘要: Abstract The increasing availability of high resolution digital elevation models (DEMs) is changing our viewpoint towards Earth surface landforms. Nevertheless, large-coverage, intermediate-resolution DEMs are still largely used, and can be the ideal choice in several applications based on processing spatially-integrated information. In 2012 Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia opened a website for free download “TINTALY” Digital Elevation Model (DEM), which covers whole Italian territory. Since then, about 700 users from 28 different countries have been accredited data download, report 4 years dissemination use presented. analysis intended reveals that 10 m-resolution, seamless TINITALY DEM an extremely assorted research community. Accredited working virtually any branch Sciences (e.g. Volcanology, Seismology, Geomorphology), spatially integrated humanities History Archaeology), other thematic areas such as applied Physics Zoology. Many also local administrations Regions Municipalities) civil protection or land planning purposes. summary, documented activity shows seamless, large coverage datasets fertilize technological progress society providing significant benefit to stakeholders.
