摘要: To determine the incidence of wheezing in adult asthmatics with rhinovirus infection, we exposed 21 asthmatic volunteers to 1 2 serotypes. Symptoms, spirometry, and histamine inhalation challenge were assessed prior to, daily during, 3 wk after infection. Four had fiberoptic bronchoscopy performed on fourth study day. Nineteen became infected rhinovirus; 17 19 typical coryzal symptoms. Volunteers did not have significant changes spirometry or sensitivity during infection when taken as a group categorized by severity asthma clinical illness. A subgroup 4 was identified that 10% greater decrease FEV1 parallel increase infection; these otherwise distinguishable from whole. Rhinovirus recovered specimens bronchoscoped. Th...
