摘要: Dehydroabietinol isolated from Hyptis suaveolens (L.) Poit. was found to inhibit growth of chloroquine-sensitive as well chloroquine-resistant strains Plasmodium falciparum cultivated in erythrocytes vitro (IC 50 26-27 microM). However, exposed dehydroabietinol were transformed a dose-dependent manner towards spherostomatocytic forms with concomitant formation endovesicles, disclosed by transmission electron microscopy. The erythrocyte shape alterations caused correlated its apparent IC value. Thus, incorporates into the membrane, and since invasion survival parasites is known depend on function observed antiplasmodial effect presumably an indirect host cell. Because these findings, microscopic investigations should be generally used support claims antimalarial effects apolar natural products.
