摘要: A comparative study of the secondary xylem (wood) anatomy 11 species (38 specimens) occurring in cerrado s.s. and adjacent gallery forest (both s.l. habitat) was made with aim identifying anatomical characteristics ecological value correlating them environmental conditions. The features that vary, general, between two habitats are: growth ring distinctness (well or poorly defined); tyloses deposits (more abundant specimens); gelatinous fibres evident specimens different patterns habitats); variation paratracheal banded parenchyma cerrado); more cells per strand cerrado. In have wider vessels, fewer vessels square millimetre larger intervessel pits, indicating efficient water conduction, whereas are opposite, low vulnerability mesomorphy indices, demonstrating greater safety under conditions stress. © 2012 Linnean Society London, Botanical Journal Society, 2012, ••, ••–••.
