摘要: An L band (1357.5 MHz) boundary layer radar (BLR) has been in continuous successful operation Serpong, Indonesia (6.4°S, 106.7°E), since November 1992. The performance of the BLR with respect to observation height range and wind measurement reliability examined on basis simultaneous meteorological observations. We have found that there are two types strong echo structures appearing systematically equatorial planetary diurnal variations clear days. first type is striking appearance a ascending from below 300 m (in morning) above 3–5 km afternoon), which identified variation top mixing layer. As expected, it higher Indonesian region than midlatitudes. Another layered echoes at 2–3 heights nighttime morning, seem be coincident humidity gaps.
