摘要: Oral lesions in twenty-nine immunocompromised patients were evaluated for the incidence of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections during either cancer chemotherapy or plus bone marrow transplantation (BMT). Patients' HSV antibody titers not determined, and positive diagnoses based solely on results viral cultures. Fourteen (48%) found to have herpetic infections, which is comparable with rates 50% 90% antibody-positive 40% mixed populations reported medical literature. However, this finding conflict 10.7% 15.1% rate cited dental literature undergoing chemotherapy. This underestimation believed reflect insensitivity criteria used diagnosis these studies.
