摘要: Residual charge and fatigue effects for Rochelle salt condenser.---The throw of a ballistic galvanometer connected to condenser with crystal as dielectric depends on the time charging discharging. It increases maximum is increased 2 sec. (for plates.15 cm. thick) then decreases slowly, reaching 24 hours value about half original. The decrease for.03 charging, due fatiguing at 100 volts, was found be nearly independent temperature from -15\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}C +20\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}C. first increase probably residual charges which are easily displaced more or less definite limit account high constant in this range. subsequent effect may likened an electrolytic polarization internal displacement current. These associated water crystallization, since dessication them while previous soaking alcohol accelerates them. To explain limited range it supposed that -20\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}C there loosening ions enough permit slight motion ${10}^{\ensuremath{-}9}$ cm reference molecules, temperatures above +25\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}C further allows conduction greatly.Thermal changes salt.---There apparently evolution heat starting 24\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}C persisting 54\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}C where very strong absorption takes place.
