摘要: The addition of hypothermia to regimens control cerebral edema in children at our institution has been associated with a substantial incidence infectious complications. Of the 13 maintained 30 degrees C prevent edema, 3 developed Haemophilus influenzae pneumonia and 2 Streptococcus pneumoniae sepsis (one pneumonia). importance neutrophil (PMN) function for elimination bacterial pathogens prompted vitro studies PMN clinically attainable hypothermic temperatures. Neutrophils had significantly less ability migrate towards chemotactic stimulus (45 +/- 10% inhibition; P than 0.02), ingest staphylococci (22 5% 0.01) be metabolically activated as measured by superoxide production (35 or chemiluminescence (18 8% 0.05). These findings support clinical observation that persons decreased body temperature may an increased risk infections secondary dysfunction.
