摘要: The adsorption of oxygen, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen on a tungsten ribbon filament at 300°K has been measured by means the flash technique. An omegatron rf mass spectrometer used to measure pressure. It is shown that oxygen pressures cannot be satisfactorily with ionization gauges hot‐tungsten‐filament type. total amounts gases adsorbed are 5.7×1014 molecules/cm2 for 5.8×1014 1.8×1014 nitrogen. sticking probabilities these uncovered surface 0.65 0.62 0.42 All monoxide desorb from heated as CO N2; less than 1 percent desorbs O2. pumps rate 9 liters/cm2 sec temperatures above 2000°K.
