摘要: The trace element vanadium exerts insulinlike effects in vitro and decreases hyperglycemia insulin-deficient animals. This study examined whether vanadate can improve glucose homeostasis genetically obese hyperglycemic insulin-resistant ob/ob mice, which present metabolic abnormalities similar to those of human non-insulin-dependent diabetes. Sodium orthovanadate (0.3 mg/ml) was administered for 7 wk H2O. Vanadate treatment induced a fall fed fasted plasma insulin levels improved tolerance oral glucose; the stimulated area decreased by 65%, an early peak secretion restored. During intravenous test, disappearance rate twofold higher vanadate-treated reappearance significant response also observed. Moreover, produced increase hepatic glycogen content prevented exhaustion pancreatic stores. hypoglycemic exogenous control treated mice.
