摘要: There are relatively few studies that have examined in detail the effects of long term exploitation on population characteristics Arctic charr, Salvelinus alpinus, coincident with natural changes environmental conditions. This is particularly case for anadromous charr despite their widespread use and importance areas such as northern Canada. Here, response north Labrador to major reductions commercial following periods intense fishing described three stock complexes emphasis size, growth, age configurations. Changes size distribution, specifically long-term declines weight, linked intensive possibly variability climate northwest Atlantic resulted identifiable diet shifts during early 1990s. Despite observed some metrics, populations maintained stable length compositions variations weight showing resilience return earlier configurations was reduced conditions ameliorated. Results investigations challenge traditional beliefs associated inability all withstand exploitation.
