摘要: Abstract This article examines the potential of biogas and second-generation biomethane (BM) obtainable from Mediterranean feedstock through a process anaerobic digestion (AD), within territorial context Sicily. An estimation amount biomass that is suitable for AD produced in Sicily has been calculated using methodology already employed other contexts, which takes into account loss during harvesting used livestock feed. Therefore, estimate was made net availability after losses alternative uses, order to avoid conflicts between food The assessment enabled examination Sicily's field bioenergetics that, today, little exploited. In fact, lagging behind compared rest Italy, both terms number plants electrical installed capacity. study allowed us figure slightly more than 3.9 million tons per year (from whey, pomace, stalks dregs, olive residue, slaughter waste, pulp, cattle slurry, pig straw cereal crops, fruit vegetable scraps, crops rotation, spring-summer cycle, long-term weed crops/shrub biomass) capable producing 255 Nm3 self-consumption, enough produce 408072.1 MWhel/year energy 305672.0 MWhter/year thermal energy. Another could be production 145 BM used, according recent Italian legislation, transport sector or feeding national methane grid.
