摘要: In vitro and animal models suggest that the herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV1) may contribute to development of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). To determine whether risk OSCC is related infection with HSV1 in humans, we recruited 260 patients from 18 65 years old who were newly diagnosed between 1990-1995 while residing three western Washington State counties. For comparison, at random 445 controls frequency matched cases on age sex. Participants completed in-person interviews provided serum samples tested for antibody response HSV1. After adjusting sex, cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, age, income, positivity was associated a slightly increased [adjusted odds ratio (OR), 1.3; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.9-2.0]. The adjusted association among those current smokers (OR, 4.2; CI, 2.4-7.1) stronger than would be predicted based additive combination smoking alone 2.3; 1.2-4.2) seropositivity 1.0; 0.6-1.7). There suggestive evidence similarly modified by HPV but no effect modification consumption. This population-based study suggests enhance individuals are already disease because or infection.
