Determination of chlorpromazine and its sulphoxide in pharmaceutical dosage forms by third-order derivative ultraviolet spectroscopy

摘要: In pharmaceutical dosage forms, interference in the UV spectra of analytes by other UV-absorbing solutes leads to a requirement for development procedures with greater specificity. One method used address this problem is technique derivative spectroscopy, where composite spectrum transformed second or higher wavelength domain. This paper reports novel application determination phenothiazine (chlorpromazine) and its sulphoxide impurity various forms.A systematic approach developed optimisation order, graphical measurement instrumental conditions led adoption third-order spectroscopy as suitable precision selectivity phenothiazines. Both parent compound can be assayed forms amplitudes of, respectively, positive peak at 259 nm respect negative 267 nm, 350 361 nm. A new notation denoting these amplitude measures proposed, viz., 3D259,267 3D350,361, respectively. By comparison an independent referee based on reversed-phase HPLC, proposed gave statistically similar results chlorpromazine injectables, tablets syrups. The figures merit assays are described terms response linearity, 95% confidence limits, relative standard deviation, recovery data correlation coefficients. It suggested that methodology should applicable analysis members class compounds.
