摘要: A growing body of evidence suggests that prenatal environment is important in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) etiology. In this study, we compare placental shape features younger siblings children with ASD, who themselves are at high ASD risk, to a sample low risk peers. Digital photographs the fetal placenta surface and sliced disk from 129 newborns 267 National Children’s Study Vanguard pilot were analysed extract comparable measures chorionic shape, umbilical cord displacement thickness. Placental thickness moderately higher cases. The placentas ASD-case also rounder more regular perimeter than general population placentas. After stratification by sex, these across-group differences persisted for both sexes but pronounced females. No significant observed insertion measures. Variations generally considered reflect flexibility growth response changes intrauterine as establishes matures. Reduced variability compared low-risk controls may indicate restricted ability compensate changes.
