摘要: With a view to estimating the effect of altitude on body dimensions vis-a-vis ethnicity-religion, geographical distance, and occupation, comprehensive multivariate statistical analysis was performed data pertaining 16 anthropometric characters collected from 1,103 individuals (643 males 460 females) belonging two ethnic groups-Sherpa Lepcha. Samples were drawn several locations in eastern Himalayan region-Darjeeling Kalimpong West Bengal (India), Nepal, situated at low (1,000-2,000 meters) high (above 3,500 altitudes. The sampled practice different occupations follow religions. Significant age sex effects observed. age-adjusted, sexes treated separately. A test equality mean vectors indicated heterogeneity among population groups. Almost all found contribute significantly ability discriminate between overall probability correctly classifying an individual based into group which she or he actually belongs (between 0.64 0.77). Shape size factors could be identified that explained about 50% total variance yielded reasonable separation Results four types analyses agreement, showed is most highly associated with dimensions.
