摘要: A factor frequently identified as a key to understanding sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench feed value ruminant animals is rate of starch digestion. Recent research in corn (Zea mays L.) has established strong ability predict rumen degradation from grain physical and chemical parameters. It was therefore important determine whether similar relationships could be sorghum. The objectives this study were determine: 1) range variation for12-hour vitro dry matter disappearance (IVDMD), chemical, quality parameters among 16sorghum conversion lines; 2) establish the strength these characters. Entries grown at Ithaca, Nebraska 1991 1992 randomized complete block with four replications. Line effects significant for 12-hour IVMVD, crude protein, oil, starch, individual seed weight, hardness. only traits significantly correlated IVDMD protein hardness, r≤–0.32 testa non-testa-containing lines. Stepwise regression similarly revealed poor predictive any on12-hour IVDMD. Unlike corn, prediction digestibility simply measured not possible set of16 However, lack provides opportunity select lines unique combinations targeted needs or markets.
