摘要: Abstract Whilst past research has explored the notion of co-evolution and ambidexterity in organizations, few have drawn from theoretical insights made other domains study such as biology cultural evolution. This paper seeks to make a contribution towards this project, by developing an agent-based simulation model multi-level within organization, with view shedding new light on organizational adaptation. Unlike previous studies nature, focuses behaviour at multiple-levels between interacting individuals, based evolutionary mechanisms variation, selection retention. In way it is seen that incremental, punctuated chaotic patterns aggregate arise same core building blocks variation–selection–retention. The findings point need for management control ambidextrous organizations both during times stability AND transformational change. latter case, was not overpowering suppressing variations innovation organization. Rather might be interpreted voice calm chaos storm, providing direction many actors organization walking them along thin line inaction chaos.
