Work experiences of Latino building cleaners: An exploratory study.

摘要: BACKGROUND There are roughly 3.8 million cleaning workers in the United States. The workforce is largely composed of women, immigrants, and ethnic minorities who receive low wages have education levels. They exposed to physical, chemical, biological, psychosocial hazards. METHODS Qualitative methodology was used investigate how Latino immigrants experience work as building cleaners. A grounded theory coding approach analyze focus group data from 77 participants. RESULTS Three major themes were identified: economic vulnerability, stressors, health safety effects. Although aware hazards associated with their jobs, they believe immigration status limits employment opportunities leading them accept poor working conditions. through injuries cope psychologically minimizing negative impacts normalizing work-related illnesses. CONCLUSIONS findings suggest that interventions for these should recognize hostile organizational contexts within which often work.
