摘要: Three problems have been identified with this recently published paper: (1) The author claims that alumina scales do not satisfy the conditions necessary to apply Wagner oxidation theory. Reassessment of several author’s proposed nine criteria indicates Wagner’s theory does apply. (2) repeatedly mentions a lack correlation between rates and diffusion their different activation energies. It is shown reasonable can be calculated from extrapolated grain-boundary relationships. (3) proposes mechanism for growth involving transport neutral AlO species. This inconsistent repeated experimental results indicating by charged species rate altered an applied current.
