摘要: Conservation of historic buildings and streets through rehabilitation is growing rapidly in many countries. The extent to which this approach conducive the aims social sustainability has yet be investigated. This study examines attributes factors that contribute socially sustainable development districts. A district Shanghai, China, used as a case study. area, Tianzifang, community-initiated rehabilitation, conserved traditional residential houses old factories transformed them into community for creative industry. Site observations, personal interviews questionnaire surveys public opinion were conducted examine contributing factors. Through literature review, fieldwork pilot study, 21 identified districts form basis analysis survey exercise. factor analysis, underlying embrace derived.
