摘要: The article assesses the prospects for assimilation of new immigrant groups and judges their likely effects on society culture language United States. It places immigration in historical perspective indicates distinctive features that set it apart from earlier influxes. appraises structural context incorporation todays immigrants argues because fundamental differences will not be as rapid or complete achieved by European past. concludes suggesting how nature ethnicity change a result is linguistically concentrated geographically clustered temporally continuous into an American increasingly stratified unequal.
