摘要: To gain more insight into the role of HIV-1-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) in pathogenesis AIDS, we investigated temporal relations between HIV-1 Gag-specific precursor CTL (CTLp), viral load, CD4+ cell counts, and function. Six HIV-1-infected subjects, who were asymptomatic for than 8 yr with counts > 500 cells/mm3, compared six subjects progressed to AIDS within 5 after seroconversion. In long-term asymptomatics, persistent responses very low numbers cells coincided normal stable preserved CD3 mAb-induced reactivity yr. five out rapid progressors CTLp also detected. However, early infection number circulating increased despite strong mounting responses. During subsequent clinical progression loss precipitating severe deterioration The possible relationships disease are discussed.
