摘要: “Reverse pharmacological” approaches, i.e., ligand identification using cell lines expressing orphan receptors, combined with genetic engineering techniques, have increased our understanding of novel signaling systems in the body (1). Orexin/hypocretin is first example factors that were successfully applied such approaches (2). Our group initially identified orexin-A and orexin-B as endogenous peptide ligands for two G-protein-coupled receptors found human expressed sequence tags (ESTs) This chapter discusses structures functions orexin neuropeptides their receptors.
