摘要: Exploratory behavior is considered under the following categories: (1) extrinsic exploration in which animal seeks information about conventional reinforcers such as food, (2) intrinsic directed toward stimuli may have no biological significance, further divided into inspective and inquisitive exploration. In former inspects a particular object; latter, performs to make change its environment, rather than merely responding change. Extrinsic synonymous with ethological term, appetitive behavior. It shown that much of indicative frustration reported intensively housed animals occurs when component drive consummatory component, prevented. Consideration necessary for good husbandry practice, fear an important competing response. Inquisitive has not been widely investigated infraprimate species, but authors present several possible examples species common agricultural animals. However, they suggest propensity show this type vary between closely related species. environments barren extent stifling exploration, develop apathy, relevance welfare discussed.
