摘要: Loss of shallow water habitat (SWH) is hypothesized as a factor contributing to the decline native Missouri River fishes, including endangered pallid sturgeon. As result, restoration SWH high priority in this large river system. Restoration activities often include constructing side channel chutes; however, limited information exists on potential negative, unintended effects chute construction quality. This study was designed better understand possible construction, both initially and development continues, nutrient concentrations. Our first objective determine if addition sediment from proposed locations samples (i.e., elutriate samples) increased concentrations relative water-only collected just upstream or eight long-term quality monitoring stations. second monitored during 2009 2010 after passed through previously-constructed chutes. Nutrient were not significantly higher than locations; same true for seven Furthermore, at outlet chutes inlet these results suggest that individual projects restore some natural form function are unlikely increase Rivernutrient continue develop.
