摘要: Historically, empirical attempts to understand families with adolescents have paid great attention the activities of parents, especially in terms what they are doing socialize their offspring become productive members society. As a natural extension, then, parent–adolescent dyad becomes smallest unit analysis that can be used study adolescents. The seminal work Diana Baumrind on parenting styles (authoritative, authoritarian, permissive/indulgent, and indifferent/neglectful) continues maintain strong influence most recent research focuses dyadic relationships. present chapter reviews studies been conducted over last 15 years, particular linkage has established between healthy adolescent development an authoritative style parenting. In addition, newer extended this number important directions also highlighted. This includes examines differences mothers fathers, degree which consistency matters. literature concerning other related behaviors such as monitoring knowledge, responsiveness, warmth, psychological control is reviewed, variations may exist function race, ethnicity, culture discussed well.
