摘要: PURPOSE: To evaluate chewing and swallowing functions in women with without temporomandibular disorder (TMD) investigate the position of mandible hyoid bone as they are important structures development these functions. METHODS: Seventy were evaluated relation to TMD diagnosis according Research Diagnostic Criteria, among them, 34 composed study group (SG) 36 took part control (CG). Evaluation masticatory was performed Protocol Orofacial Myofunctional Scores. Mandibular variables measured by cephalometric analysis. RESULTS: subjects showed a significant difference on tongue (p=0.03) lip (p=0.04) posture during function, more frequent adoption chronic unilateral pattern well (p=0.03). Moreover, presented lower (p=0,00). Conclusion: presence resulted higher frequency myofunctional alterations A greater distance from addition painful symptom can justify, partly, atypical behaviors lips observed group.
