摘要: Abstract Background Myeloperoxidase (MPO), in the presence of hydrogen peroxide and a halide represent an efficient microbicidal mechanism phagocytic cells. MPO is abundant neutrophils which also respond to infection by producing large amounts reactive oxygen species (ROS). MPO, ROS constitute very toxic antimicrobial system (called Klebanoff or KS). Resting mature macrophages do not contain granular thus are unable kill pathogenic mycobacteria some other microorganisms this system. Experimental Under hypothesis that transforming into peroxidase-positive (PO+) cells, these cells would be able Mycobacterium tuberculosis, study, were loaded with exogenous peroxidase tested for their capacity absence peroxide. Results It was found PO-loaded eagerly ingest M. but show significant mycobactericidal activity on microorganism despite it highly susceptible vitro. Failure tuberculosis may obey either inappropriate location PO more likely, detoxifying mechanisms bacteria. On contrary, MPO-loaded unloaded efficiently killed Listeria monocytogenes. Conclusion The lack macrophages, predilection infect two situations favor development related diseases, such as leprosy Buruli ulcer.
