摘要: Dietary glycemic modulation through high-fat, low-carbohydrate diets, which induce a state of systemic ketosis and alter metabolic signaling, have been incorporated into the clinical management patients with neurological disease for more than century. Mounting preclinical evidence supports antitumor, proapoptotic, antiangiogenic effects disrupting glycolytic metabolism dietary intervention. In recent years, interest in incorporating such novel therapeutic strategies neuro-oncology has increased. To date, 3 published studies therapies oncology reported, including one phase I study neuro-oncology, set stage further this field. article, we review biochemical pathways, data, early translation interventions that modulate primary malignant brain tumors. We introduce modified Atkins diet (MAD), alternative to classic ketogenic diet, discuss critical issues facing future study.
