On the implementation of a circular economy: The role of institutional capacity-building through industrial symbiosis

摘要: Abstract This paper explores the role of institutional capacity-building through industrial symbiosis in development a circular economy. Actors directly or indirectly involved within National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP) UK, including companies, government agencies, promoters, academia, media and NGOs, were interviewed. Content analysis was used to make inferences from interviews. Our results indicate that capacity is created interactions between favorable field identification business opportunities by actors. It found NISP increased its develop increasing knowledge relational resources promoting for mobilization. We identified forces are driving shift current traditional linear material energy flows Overall study indicates UK playing vital building maintaining an coordination network, but ultimately other actors will be necessary if cyclical flow materials systemic thinking achieved.
