Attitudes of primary care physicians towards patients with mental illness in Hong Kong.

摘要: Introduction This study aims to describe the attitudes of primary care physicians towards mental health patients in Hong Kong, especially examine doctors’ views on schizophrenia and depression, influence their demographic variables. Methods A questionnaire developed by research team was sent members Kong College Family Physicians. Potential respondents were allocated equal basis one two sets questionnaire, set 1 for clinical vignette 2 depression. Results A response rate 37% (500 1,360) achieved. There 255 245 returned questionnaires 2, respectively. Comparing vignettes, there large differences willingness have patient practice list issues (40.0% versus 71.5% depression) deal with patient's needs (37.0% 60.9%). Multiple ordinal logistic regression analysis showed that doctors following factors tended more worries or stigma patients: “having longer years practice,” “being female,” “working hospital,” “employed public sector,” “not having a relative/friend problems.” Discussion Our shows two-thirds are prepared look after which is substantially higher than schizophrenia. In contrast Australian findings, experienced negative younger ones.
